The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in South America
The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America next month, as announced by royal officials.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.
Father and son were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the UK government.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the UN meeting.
Royal sources have characterized William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "environmental negotiations".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This engagement involved presentations in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
Environmental Prize Link
The COP30 summit will dovetail with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he attends the climate conference on the sixth of November.
In recent days the William referred to the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

King Charles has been a influential participant at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats challenging our world over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed attendees.
