Students Express Concerns That AI Is Eroding Their Learning Skills, Research Reveals
As per recent research, students are expressing concerns that employing AI is weakening their capability to study. Numerous report it renders schoolwork “too easy”, while others say it restricts their innovative capacity and impedes them from learning fresh abilities.
Widespread Use of Artificial Intelligence By Learners
An analysis examining the use of artificial intelligence in UK educational institutions found that merely 2% of learners between the ages of 13 and 18 stated they did not use AI for their studies, while the vast majority said they frequently utilized it.
Negative Effect on Skills
In spite of AI’s prevalence, 62% of the pupils said it has had a negative impact on their skills and growth at school. A quarter of the participants concurred that AI “enables me to obtain answers with minimal personal effort”.

Almost 50% of the two thousand students polled said they were concerned their fellow students were “secretly using AI” for studies without their educators being able to identify it.

Numerous students stated that they desired more guidance from teachers for the correct utilization of artificial intelligence and in evaluating whether its output was accurate. A project intended to supporting teachers with artificial intelligence instruction is being introduced.

Merely 31% indicated they didn’t think AI use had a negative influence on any of their abilities. But, the majority of pupils reported using artificial intelligence assisted them gain fresh abilities, including 18% who said it assisted them grasp challenges, and 15% who said it aided them produce “original and superior” thoughts.
Student Perspectives
When asked to elaborate, one 15-year-old girl commented: “I’ve gained a better grasp of math concepts, and the technology aids in resolving challenging queries.”
